The ISKD_UHAMC project, dedicated to the restoration and conservation of the valuable wall paintings in the chapel since 2022, has entered a new phase of funding. Thanks to generous support for the wall painting component and the commitment of the German Foundation for Monument Protection (DSD - Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz), significant progress can now be made towards the restoration of this historically significant site without interruptions.

In the initial phase of conservation and restoration efforts, pilot work was undertaken alongside the treatment of the dome surfaces to reduce biogenic colonization on the interior wall paintings. Additionally, methods to mitigate salt accumulation in the base area through compresses, plaster reinforcement, and sealing compounds for crack closures were developed. Starting in mid-September 2023, it is now planned to continue the work on the restoration of the wall surfaces and complete it by the end of the year. A detailed report on the restoration and conservation measures for the wall paintings will follow.
