From 2003 to 2009: Research assistant in various third-party funded R&D (Research and Development) projects such as EU-ARTECH, EU-MULTI ASSESS, UBA-Run-off and others.
2006: Dissertation on the topic “Heavy metal release (run-off) of metallic materials as a result of atmospheric corrosion, especially with lead, copper and zinc”.
Since 2009: Head of department in the central laboratory and geo-exploration department and responsible for the stone and material testing department as well as building physics and building chemistry.
Dr. Bittner is active in various projects of the German Federal Foundation for the Environment (DBU) with a focus on “Preservation and protection of nationally valuable cultural assets from harmful environmental influences”.
Dr. Bittner is also a member of the coordination group of the “Stones in the City” network.
