Chair I for Art History at the Otto-Friedrich-University Bamberg
Studied art history, archeology and church history in Kiel, Vienna, Berlin, Freiburg and Leiden.
Worked as a scientific assistant in Tübingen, after which he held professorships in Berlin, Kiel, Tübingen, Stuttgart, Munich and Bern, followed by longer research stays in Rome, Paris and Munich.
Since 2009: Chair for Art History at the University of Bamberg.
Since 2019: Member of three working groups on the reconstruction of the Paris Cathedral Notre-Dame.
